Life certainly does have a way of changing… often and for the better!

Back in 2017, when we retired… we imagined a much slower-paced way of life in our new home in western Michigan. While lake life has certainly been beneficial for us both, Shane has found himself more than a little bored.

Kandas is doing very well. She continues to receive excellent treatment that is keeping metastatic breast cancer at bay. Her tri-weekly visits to the cancer center are working.

Things are great, so Shane is building furniture again, on a much smaller scale. We’ve been quietly accepting commissions for beds for the past 2-years on Etsy.

After being hit by a whopping 18% seller fee from Etsy on a recent order, as well as a few other signs that Etsy no longer has the best interests of their makers at heart, we are relaunching our website.

Again, we are keeping it small. If you’d like to commission a bed, you can simply call or email us via our contact form.

The advantage to living in Michigan, rather than Texas, and keeping our build queue limited is that we can deliver most orders ourselves! It’s wonderful to finally meet our clients face to face.

Plus, we can sneak in some pleasure after a delivery. Like this visit to Longwood Gardens:

So, what have you been up to these past few years?

  1. I was so happy to read that you are both doing well! When you were retiring, I was so disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to purchase one of your beautiful beds. So, I’m doubly happy to hear that you are once again taking orders albeit slowly. I’m wondering where you are in Western Michigan. My grandparents had a summer home at Paw Paw Lake, so I spent every summer with them there. Michigan is a very beautiful state & has so many areas for recreation. Stay healthy! Please keep letting your previous customers & possible new customers know how you are both doing.

    1. It’s so nice to hear from you Kristina! We are doing well and very much enjoying our semi-retirement. Building a few beds in the Spring/Summer keeps Shane busy and out of my hair. LOL.
